Starlife is a hands-on astrophysics puzzle for your tablet or phone. Push clouds of gas with your fingers, condense them into stars, and solve multitouch, science-grounded puzzles about how stars are born, live, and die.

Best on a touchscreen. Starlife was made for fingers on glass, so an iPad or a touchscreen laptop is the real thing. With a mouse, drag gas to move it, click and hold on gas to gather a star, and scroll to zoom out to where bigger stars form. Progress isn't saved between visits.

Starlife is still in development. Everything should work flawlessly. However, if you encounter a bug with the demo, please send an email to hello@starlife.info with BUG in the subject line. If you have feedback on accuracy of the science, please use SCIENCE in the subject line instead. I'm happy to have comments that make the game better and more accurate, thanks!

Touch the stars.

Multi-touch. Designed for touchscreens first. The control at your fingertips may surprise you.

Ignite. Condense gas into a star with a finger. Or many fingers. Hold longer, gather more gas, and produce a monster.

Orbit. Your second star will orbit the first with a gesture. Three is a party...

Rewind. Time itself is a tool. Revert the chaos. There is no game over, only rewind.

Real physics, real outcomes.

Every number traces back to real physics. A star's mass sets its color, its lifetime, and the way it dies. Stars age on a visible timescale, leaving white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes behind.

Modeled on existing stars in the sky. Luyten's Star, Sirius, Eta Carinae and more, with references in-game.

It's about time.

Watch accurate stellar phenomena play out in seconds. Protostellar discs, ignition, mass shedding, phase shifts. Pause the simulation and inspect anything. Use the timeline to give yourself another chance or to find out what happened.
